Hopalong Cassidy occurs as invented cowboy-hero, created in 1904 by Clarence E. Mulford and appearing in a series of popular stories and later novels. Beginning around 1935, a character, played by William Boyd was transformed into a series of 66 vastly popular films, simply two or three of which were according to Mulford's works, however which led, successively, to the comic book series modelled after a films, & an early Fifties television series also starring Boyd, with many tie-tie.
